LAHORE: A study to find reasons behind urban flooding in Lahore and suggest mitigating measures by an international consultant, in collaboration with the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa), is ongoing.

The study is being conducted after a proposal of Lahore Wasa was accepted for the Australian government’s 1.2 million Australian dollars grant.

Wasa Managing Director Ghufran Ahmad said that study is likely to be completed within a month.

The Australian consulate’s first secretary also visited Wasa head office in Gulberg on Friday and pledged to provide support for the capacity building of Wasa.

Also, a Wasa team got a consumer arrested in Iqbal town for threatening a Wasa recovery team after he failed to pay bills amounting to Rs60,000. The team also disconnected water and sewage connections of the consumer.
