ISLAMABAD: Founding chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has nominated his Kashmir origin lawyer Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry as member of the party’s apex decision-making body.

It is the first time that a Kashmiri has been directly involved in the decision-making process of the PTI. Mr Chaudhry stated that his nomination in the core committee of the PTI had been appreciated by the Kashmiri community.

“This appointment interprets as an indicator of Imran Khan’s deep interest in the Kashmir issue, symbolising a gesture of inclusion and recognition towards the Kashmiri populace as integral stakeholders. In the autonomous region of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, as well as among the politically aware segments of the population in India-administered Jammu and Kashmir, this move is viewed with significant regard.

“It underscores Mr Khan’s unwavering commitment to the Kashmir cause, an issue he vociferously championed during his tenure as prime minister of Pakistan,” he said.
