LAHORE: An exhibition of calligraphy and abstract art featuring two artists opened at Shakir Ali Museum on Tuesday.

The exhibition that opened at Shakir Ali Museum, a subsidiary of Pakistan National Council of the Arts, featured a 14-year-old calligraphy artist Moazma Shahid and a practicing artist Babar Ali Fareedi.

The exhibition was inaugurated by former executive director of Lahore Arts Council, Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi.

Talking to Dawn, Mr Zulfi said calligraphy art was getting popular day by day.

He said Moazma Shahid had done a brilliant job as she had a passion to become a great artist in future. Her calligraphy was of great substance, he added.

About Mr Fareedi, Zulfi said his work spoke volumes of his hard practice and the way he had applied colours.

The exhibition featured 15 artworks by Moazma Shahid and 20 by Babar Ali Fareedi.

A number of visual artists, relatives and friends came to see the exhibition which would continue till Dec 31.

Ms Shahid said she had a great passion for calligraphy and she worked day and night to come up with 15 artworks for the exhibition.

It was the maiden exhibition by the young artist.

To her, calligraphy was an important component of art adding that she was preparing for another exhibition which would be held in the early months of 2024.
