SAHIWAL: Pakpattan city police have arrested a female TikToker for recording and sharing a video clip while wearing a fake police uniform.
The police registered a case against TikToker Shumaila Aslam, a resident of Mohallah Karampura, under sections 170 and 171 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the complaint of Sub-Inspector (SI) Jaffar Hussain.
According to the police report, SI Jaffar Hussain was on patrol duty when he received information about a video circulating on social media, showing a woman in fake police uniform.
After verifying the report, the police traced the mobile number used to upload the video and the address of the TikToker residing in Karampura locality of the city.
The police investigations also confirmed that the suspect is not employed in the Punjab Police and used a fake uniform while the video was recorded.
District Police Officer (DPO) Javed Iqbal confirmed to Dawn over phone that the suspect was taken into custody on Tuesday morning after registration of a case.
The DPO warned people against making videos in any official uniform as it is a crime.
