Rights activist gets award

PESHAWAR: A prominent human and women rights activist Advocate Mehwish Muhib Kakakhel was awarded best performance award in the field of law by Governor Haji Ghulam Ali at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Women Empowerment Summit here.

Apart from the governor, the caretaker provincial law minister, retired Justice Irshad Qaiser, and chairperson of National Commission on the Status of Women Nilofar Bakhtiar were also present at the summit.

According to a press release, Mehwish Muhib Kakakhel has been practicing law for the last eight years. She is the youngest women partner of any law firm in the country.

She has completed her LLM in cybercrimes and MS in computer sciences. She has been dealing with cases of constitutional law, family law, criminal, women harassment, cybercrimes and civil law.

She has also been working as an expert on the legal side of artificial intelligence, gender-based violence and cybercrimes.

Ms Kakakhle is known for filing public interest litigations and her services for human rights have always been applauded by legal circles and civil society.
