KHUZDAR: A young boy lost his life and nine students of a religious seminary sustained injuries, with three of them said to be in critical condition, in a grenade explosion in the Wadh area of Khuzdar on Tuesday.

Officials said some seminary students had found the grenade in the Zarcheen area. They picked it up and began playing with it, eventually causing the grenade to explode. Ten students suffered injuries in the explosion.

An ambulance shifted the injured children to nearby hospital, where doctors referred three of the seriously injured to the Khuzdar district hospital.

However, one of the children lost his life en route to Khuzdar when the ambulance overturned on the National Highway owing to excessive speed, as reported by the police officials.

“The boy, who got only injured in the grenade explosion, lost his life in the road accident,” a senior police officer said.

In a separate incident, police said, a man, later identified as Attaullah Jattak, was stabbed to death by unknown people in the Qadirabad area of Khuzdar.
