SAHIWAL: The Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) has uncovered an illegal consumer gas connection network in Al-Munawar Garden, private society, near village 82/6-R in Sahiwal.

SNGPL Regional Manager Bashir Ahmed reported that approximately 20 houses had been illegally connected to the main gas supply line since 2017.

The department has filed applications for the registration of criminal cases against these 20 consumers under section 462 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The estimated loss incurred stands at Rs10 million, and steps are being taken to recover these losses. He said a departmental inquiry is currently underway to identify any wrongdoers within the department itself. This inquiry is expected to be completed within 72 hours.

ALLIANCE: Leading educational institutions have stopped academic activities for four days on the protest call of the provincial chapter of All Government Employee Grant Alliance in Sahiwal city.

The alliance has givena strike call to from October 5 to 9.

Dawn has observed that there is no classwork in Commerce College, Imamia College, Graduate College, Government Graduate College for Women and Government Associate College for Women.

The strike call is against changes to the rules of leave encashment, gratuity and pension by the caretaker government.
