KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead in an alleged encounter in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Tuesday evening, police said.

Sharea Faisal SHO Raja Tariq Mehmood said that a police patrol indicated two motorcyclists to stop near Jauhar Chowrangi. Instead, they resorted to firing and tried to speed away. However, police returned fire and killed one suspect later identified as Shahzad.

The police recovered one pistol, mobile phone and a motorcycle from his custody.

Meanwhile, three suspects, including one in injured condition, were arrested after an encounter in Defence, Phase-VII on Tuesday, according to police.

The wounded suspect was identified as Adeel Haider.
