MUZAFFARGARH: Sanawan police claimed on Friday to have recovered the motorcycle of a theft case complainant that was allegedly stolen from the police station, while the owner apologised for earlier giving a “wrong statement”, saying he had actually parked his bike outside a restaurant.

On Sept 17, a local, Arif, said in a social media video clip that he had gone to file a theft complaint at Sanawan police station from where his motorcycle was stolen.

Taking notice of the clip, District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Hasnain Haider ordered the police to recover the bike.

The district police spokesperson claimed that during investigation a CCTV footage was seen that showed the bike was actually stolen from outside a restaurant.

He said that on being grilled, the complainant admitted he had uploaded a “false” video clip on social media. On Friday, police recovered the stolen bike and arrested the suspected thieve.

The spokesperson said the complainant also submitted a written apology for the false video clip.
