ABBOTTABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Haji Ghulam Ali was admitted to the Ayub Teaching Hospital Abbottabad on Thursday morning due to high blood pressure, said a spokesman for the hospital.

He told reporters that after the governor reached the hospital, senior doctors recommended his admission for “sometime as a precautionary measure.”

The spokesman said the governor was provided with all health facilities under the supervision of the hospital’s medical specialist board.

He added that Mr Ali was hospitalised for around four hours and was discharged after the normalisation of blood pressure.

The governor later returned to the Governor’s House in the Nathiagali area.

Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner of Abbottabad has formed committees for the prevention of power theft in the district on the directives of the provincial government.

The committees will “monitor electricity theft and take appropriate action against people defaulting on power bills,” according to officials.

They said terms of reference for the clampdown had been issued.

The officials said a 24/7 district electricity theft reporting cell had been set up at the deputy commissioner’s office.

They said the action by committees would reduce electricity bills to the relief of people.

The officials said the district enforcement committee would be led by the deputy commissioner and would comprise district police officer, superintendent engineer of Pesco, additional deputy commissioner (general), SP of the Special Branch and social representative Ayaz Saleem Rana as members.
