LAHORE: A mediocre six-event card featuring a cup race marks the third Lahore day/night Summer Meeting which gets under way here at the Racecourse on Sunday.

In view of the Lahore summer reaching its peak, the Lahore Race Club (LRC) has reduced the distance of races, with five to be held over 800 metres and one over 1,000 metres.

The Akhuwat Cup, a Class VII Division VI and VII combined handicap race to be contested over 800 metres, has seven runners. The quartet of Mumraiz Love, Rana Princess, Kuwait Currency and Stardom look on chance in this race, the second of the day.

The main event, the Drure Plate Class VII Division I and II to be gone over 1,000 metres, has nine runners. Bay mare Tatla Princess, bay filly Elektra and bay Guns Of Navarone look the rapid ones in the line-up, and are likely to finish in the same order in the sixth and the last race.

The opening race has ten runners, all of whom are still maidens. This looks an open affair as most of the runners will debut.

Fame Again, John Princess and Revolver are the chance horses in the seven contestants drawn for the third race of 800 metres.

The fourth race has the largest field of thirteen runners. Malik Badshah, Mumraiz Prince and Nya Dastoor being the prominent ones, the rider’s quality will make the difference.

Mufasa, Gondal Gift and Sixty Love are the pick of the eight competitors drawn for the fifth race to be run over 800 metres.

The first race begins at 5:30pm.
