Ahsan clinches Asian U-21 snooker

KARACHI: Ahsan Ramzan, Pakistan’s former world champion, added yet another feather to his cap on Wednesday when he outclassed Iran’s Milad Pourali Darehchi 5-2 in the best-of-nine frames final of the Asian U-21 Snooker Championship in Tehran on Wednesday evening.

The 17-year-old won the best-of-nine frames final 48-46, 70-5, 61-6, 62-29, 30-71, 55-67, 101-27.

Earlier, Ahsan brushed aside Tirdad Azadipour, also of Iran, 4-2 in the semi-final with the scores being 76-8, 102-1, 3-66, 75-35, 14-82, 81-14.

Meanwhile, the Asian 6-Reds Team Snooker title went to India 2 who inflicted a 3-2 defeat on Hong Kong in the best-of-five final.

The winners fought back from two frames down to won the battle 33-82, 0-100, 66-29, 115-0, 66-45.

The Pakistan pair of Ahsan and Haris Tahir crashed out in the quarters losing 2-3 to the eventual champions. The Asian 6-Reds event begins on Thursday.
