LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Usman Anwar reviewed the performance of the police welfare schools in the province in a meeting on Sunday.
He reviewed the educational and teaching facilities provided in schools affiliated to the Punjab Police.
Additional IG Welfare and Finance Riaz Nazir Gara, DIG Headquarters Humayun Bashir Tarar, DIG IT Ahsan Younis, DIG Welfare Ghazi Salahuddin, AIG Admin Amara Athar, AIG Welfare Naveed Ajmal, RPOs, DPOs, school heads of regions also participated in the meeting.
The IGP said that besides ensuring the best environment for the students and teachers of Punjab Police welfare schools, teaching facilities should also be increased. He said that summer camps should be organised in the police welfare schools to promote sports and creative activities.
111 ASIs promoted to SI rank
He also ordered provision of air-conditioners and LEDs in staff rooms of all these schools.
Dr Anwar said the police welfare schools must ensure maximum number of admissions to increase their income which is being spent on the treatment and welfare of the heirs of police martyrs.
He said regional and district police officers should evolve a joint plan in consultation with the school administrations to improve working of these institutions.
PROMOTIONS: Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) on Sunday promoted 111 assistant sub-inspector to (ASIs) to the rank of sub-inspector (SI).
The promotions were granted in the Departmental Promotion Board meeting held under the chairmanship of PHP DIG Dr Athar Waheed.
PHP Headquarters SP Mansoor Qamar, Lahore Region SP Imran Karamat Bukhari and Assistant Director, Admin, Ghulam Mohiuddin, also attended the meeting.
The board approved the promotion of 111 ASIs to the rank of SI after considering 125 cases for the departmental promotion.
A ceremony was also held to award new ranks to the the promoted officials at the PHP headquarters.
Additional IG Punjab Highway Patrol Abdul Karim, DIG Dr Muhammad Athar Waheed and SP Headquarters PHP Mansoor Qamar pinned ranks to 111 SIs and 25 ASIs.
Additional IG Abdul Kareem and DIG Dr Muhammad Athar Waheed congratulated the promoted officers, expressed good wishes for them and directed them to perform their duties with dedication and integrity in the future.
Meanwhile, DPO Rana Umar Farooq gave a cheque worth Rs13.5 million to Humaira Arshad, widow of Shaheed Constable Waqas Azim, who embraced martyrdom in April 2021 while bravely combating criminal elements.
The IGP said support and care of the families of the martyrs is the top responsibility of the police department. “We will ensure the admission of the children of the martyr to the best schools for higher education,” he added.He also released more than Rs11.01 million for treatment of 18 police officials suffering from various diseases.
He said the police welfare branch should ensure immediate action on the officials requests for funds from all over the province, adding that the affected employees should be given all possible benefits on merit.
