LAHORE: Inspector General of Police Dr Usman Anwar says Punjab Police has equipped all its training institutes with modern facilities, additional resources, upgraded curriculum while the training courses include character-building and grooming, sports and creativity along with policing and management.

He stated this during a visit to the Police Training College Chuhng on Saturday. The deputy superintendents and officers of Sindh Police were also present on this occasion.

The IGP said during the last four months, record works had been done in terms of police promotions, welfare and infrastructure development. He reiterated that welfare and infrastructure were meaningless if the aggrieved citizens did not get relief at police stations.

Mr Anwar said a legal aid fund had been launched to help the officials facing cases to save them from financial problems and added that the department had given jobs to all the children of the police martyrs and houses to the heirs.

He said senior traffic wardens were being promoted to the rank of the DSPs on the basis of examination and merit. He said Rs3m had been given to training colleges and schools in the form of prizes while another Rs7m would be given.

The IGP distributed certificates and cash prizes among the lady police officers and personnel. He gave Rs100,000 cash prize to the cook, Hamid, who provided water to the officers and personnel under training.

Earlier, Inspector General Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar invited heirs of the police martyrs at his camp office in Lahore and gave house keys and deeds to the family of Shaheed SHO City Bhakkar Sub-Inspector Muhammad Hayat Khan, brother of martyred police officer Khizr Hayat, widow Parveen Hayat, sons Wasif Hayat, Nasir Sultan and Huzaifa.
