SAHIWAL: Battling for her life for 35 days, the acid attack victim woman of Qabola breathed her last at Jinnah Hospital in Lahore.
On April 25, Robina Bibi (38), along with her husband Noor Ahmed, went to see her sister-in-law in Amjad Colony.
Later, she left on foot by leaving her husband behind. On her way back, she was kidnapped by Shaukat, a cobbler, and his friend Ikram, a chicken meat seller.
They took her to a deserted house and tried to rape her but she resisted. In anger, the suspects threw acid on her and escaped from the house, leaving Robina injured and burnt.
On her hue and cry, some passer-by came to her help.
Police sources said both the suspects wanted to develop sexual relations with the woman which she denied.
Rescue 1122 shifted Robina to the trauma centre of the District Headquarters Hospital, Pakpattan.
Doctors said 60pc of Robina’s body and face were burnt. She was shifted to the Jinnah Hospital, Lahore, where she struggled for life before succumbing to her burns.
The deceased was the mother of four children.
Qabola SHO Zaman said both the accused, who belonged to the same locality as of the victim, had been arrested within 48 hours and they were on judicial remand.
Police added murder charges to the first information report registered on report of Noor Ahmed.
