QUETTA: A coal miner was killed and three received burn injuries in a methane gas explosion in a mine in Duki coal field, on Saturday.

The chief inspector mines said a group of coal miners were digging deep inside the mine when the blast took place.

“A portion of the mine collapsed after the blast,” Levies officials said.

The officials said rescue teams along with Levies reached the trapped miners.

“One coal miner burned to death, while three others with burn injuries were shifted to Bolan Medical Complex,” the chief inspector said. The mine has been closed and an inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
