Iced vanilla latte

Ice and ice cream are summer staples that help to cool us down. And during exam time, you need something nutritious and a shot of coffee to boost your energy. Since it is too hot for a streaming cup of coffee, here is the recipe of iced vanilla latte — a refreshing and delicious cold coffee that you can make to recharge yourself, especially when you are pulling an all-nighter revising your notes.

Vanilla ice cream is added to enhance the flavour, since vanilla complements coffee’s taste very well. You can always substitute it with any other flavour of ice cream, such as chocolate or coffee.

The strength of coffee’s flavour here can also be adjusted to suit your taste, I have mixed one teaspoon of instant coffee powder with two teaspoons of sugar, in about ¼ cup of hot water to make the liquid coffee mixture.

This is a very simple recipe, and doesn’t require blending like cold coffee is generally made, so you will not get the froth that comes from blending. But the richness of vanilla ice cream makes up for it, to give this drink a thick, creamy texture.

Ready in minutes by simply pouring everything in a glass and giving it a little stir, ice vanilla latte is a cafe style drink you can easily enjoy at home.

Ingredients

• 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream

• 3/4 cup milk

• Ice cubes

• 1 scoop of ice cream to top (optional)

• Coffee mixture

For coffee mixture:

• 1 teaspoon instant coffee

• 2 teaspoons sugar, or to taste

• 1/4 cup hot water

Method

In a cup, mix coffee, sugar and hot water. Cool it down before use.

In a glass, add milk, vanilla ice cream, ice cubes and coffee mixture. Stir and top with a scoop of ice cream and enjoy!

See, wasn’t this easy? So what are you waiting for? Go make yourself a chilled glass of iced vanilla latte and give yourself the sugar and caffeine boost that your brain needs.

Bon appetite!
