LAKKI MARWAT: Police have booked more than 45 villagers for attacking a team of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) in Mughalkhel area of Ghoriwala town in Bannu district.

On March 18, a group of baton-wielding villagers had attacked Pesco staffers when they were engaged in removing illegal power connections in the rural locality. Line superintendent Umar Khitab and lineman Waseeullah Shah had sustained injuries in the attack.

“On the complaint of Umar Khitab, police registered a case against Jehanzeb, Sakhi Zaman, Zahid Nawaz and 45 other attackers in Ghoriwala police station.

According to FIR, Jehanzeb had fired at a lineman Fareedullah with his pistol while others had attacked the staffers with batons, taking away Rs300,000 cash, a mobile phone and safety equipment with them.

Pesco chief executive officer Arif Mehmood Sadozai enquired after the wounded workers during a visit to Bannu district. He also gave away cash prizes to them.

KILLED: Two young men were killed in separate incidents in different parts of Lakki Marwat district, police said on Tuesday.

They said that 22-year-old Hamza Abid was shot dead by three armed men in presence of his father near Pezu city in the limits of Shaheed Haibat Ali Khan police station.

Abidullah, the father of the deceased, nominated Kifayatullah, Rifatullah and Farmanullah in the FIR. He said that he had no knowledge about his son’s enmity with the killers.
