ISLAMABAD: The federal government employees have decided to hold a protest gathering in front of the finance ministry against price hike and rising inflation and demanding a significant increase in their salaries, on Wednesday morning.

The decision was taken at a grand consultative meeting of all organisations and associations under the platform of Federal Government Employees’ Grand Alliance.

Chief coordinator of the alliance Rehman Ali Bajwa in as statement said under the current inflation government employees were forced to protest for their legitimate and constitutional rights.

“Due to the record increase in petroleum prices, it has become impossible for government employees to live,” Mr Bajwa said.

The alliance is expected to demand an increase of 100 per cent in the medical and conveyance allowances and 70pc in salaries.

Mr Bajwa said these were the recommendations of the Pay and Pension Commission while upgradation of federal employees from grade 1 to 16 was still pending even though it had already been approved by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Moreover, all daily wage, ad hoc and contractual employees should be regularised in the light of recommendations by the parliamentary committee headed by MNA Abdul Qadir Mandokhel, he added.
