PESHAWAR: To promote community policing in Chitral, efforts on different fronts have been launched by the police by contacting the masses on grassroots level and reducing the distance between police and the people.

As per public engagement plan of DPO Lower Chitral Nasir Mehmood, the police have spread awareness against crimes among the people.

In this regard, SDPOs and SHOs are being asked to go to the community and hold meetings with local elders, elected representatives of the local government, scholars and exponents of other schools of thought.

Awareness is being spread about drugs and other illegal activities. In public meetings, attention is being drawn to the fact that the greater the cooperation between the public and the police, crime rate will decrease and criminals will be discouraged.
