Faisalabad DBA body elected

FAISALABAD, Jan 5: Talib Husain Chatha, a senior lawyer and former Punjab Bar Council member, has been elected District Bar Association president with a narrow margin of 15 votes. Mr Chatha obtained 581 votes while his close rival Nasir Ali Goraya could get 566 votes.

Iqbal Ahmed Azeemi has been elected vice-president after getting 555 votes while Abad Ali could obtain 384 votes.

In one-on-one contest, Shahid Lodhi bagged 711 votes and declared successful as secretary while Rana Musharraf Ali Khan bagged 427 votes.

Muhammad Zubair Janjua clinched the joint secretary seat by securing 418 votes and Moazzam Abbas obtained 387 votes.

Sohail Babar Jundal took 710 votes and elected as the library secretary defeating Amir Fareedi, who obtained 238 votes.

Rana Sadiq and Mian Muhammad Irfan have been elected unopposed as auditor and finance secretary.

Out of the total 1,633 voters, 1,171 exercised their right of franchise.

Meanwhile, presiding officers rejected 408 votes during counting for the seats of president, secretary, vice-president, joint secretary and library secretary. 223 votes were rejected only for the seat of joint secretary.
