LAHORE: The Punjab government has declared the Nawaz Sharif Medical College (NSMC), Gujrat, and the Sargodha Medical College (SMC) the constituent colleges of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) and the Faisalabad Medical University, respectively.

The Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Department issued a notification in this regard here on Wednesday.

Earlier, NSMC was a part of the University of Gujarat (UoG) and SMC of the University of Sargodha (UoS). The Punjab government has already attached Gujranwala Medical College to the UHS as its constituent college.

Moreover, the notification of special compensatory allowance was also issued on Wednesday for the employees working at the UHS Jinnah Campus, Kala Shah Kaku. As per the notification, these employees will get an allowance equal to 20 half dailies according to their respective pay scales. The allowance was approved in the 52nd meeting of the UHS Board of Governors (BoGs).

According to the notification, employees in grade 1 to 4 will get Rs 4,960, grade 5 to 11, Rs 6,240, and those in grade 12 to 16 will get Rs11,200. The officers and faculty members in grade 17 and 18 will get Rs 20,000, while those in grade 19 and 20 will be given Rs24,880 as monthly compensatory allowance.
