HARIPUR: Unknown assailants gunned down a teenage boy in the limits of the city police station, officials said here on Monday.

The officials said locals spotted a young man lying in a pool of blood near Mohallah Garhi on Sunday night and informed the police. They said the police shifted the body to the trauma centre for autopsy, where the deceased was identified as Mohammad Arsalan, 19, of Mohallah Darband, Khalabat Township.

The officials said it was under investigation as to what was the motive behind his murder.

Meanwhile, residents beat up and shaved off the head of an alleged harasser in Hattar village, the police said on Monday.

The officials quoted Mohammad Boota of Mohallah Saddat as saying he rushed out of his house after hearing commotion in the street and saw his son, Arbab, and some other residents beating up and shaving off the head of a man, namely Fayaz.

The complainant and his son accused Fayaz of harassing women of their family.

However, the accused also lodged a complaint with the Hattar police against the locals for subjecting him to torture and shaving off his head when he was just passing through the street.
