NAROWAL: Governor Balighur Rahman presided over the first convocation of the University of Sialkot on Thursday.

Addressing students, the governor said research was important for development and universities were the centres of research. He urged graduates to make research their habit.

He distributed certificates among 4,000 male and female students of 25 different departments who graduated from the University of Sialkot.

A large number of teachers, students and parents were present in the ceremony.

The governor met local businessmen community and political representatives at the residence of Federal Minister for Defense Khawaja Muhammad Asif.

He said the federal government had returned record external loans in the first week of the current month.
