SWAT: Preparations have been finalised for the first digital census in the country, according to an official of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

He was speaking at a meeting held in the office of Malakand commissioner in Saidu Sharif. Commissioner Shaukat Ali chaired the meeting.

Divisional head of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics Shaukat Ali Khan, Swat DC Junaid Khan and Shangla DC Ziaur Rehman attended the meeting while deputy commissioners of other districts participated in the meeting online.

The meeting discussed preparations for digital census in Malakand division. Shaukat Ali Khan briefed the meeting about district-wise preparations for the seventh population and housing census, 2022.

“It will be the first digital census in the history of Pakistan in which complete data of the citizens will be obtained from the field and collected under the online system,” he said. He added that the commissioner was nominated as divisional census coordinator while deputy commissioners would act as district coordinator and assistant commissioners as district census officers at tehsil level.
