OKARA: Two men were shot dead and another was injured in separate incidents in the Mandi Ahmadabad police area on Thursday.

In the first incident that occurred at village Mojoky near Rajba Bhela Gulab Singh, Abdul Sattar and Fakhar Hayat were going to drop a friend at his house on a motorcycle. On their way, Azam, Ahmad, Ghulam Dastgir, Tariq and Shabbir Ahmad along with their two unidentified accomplices intercepted Fakhar and Sattar and opened fire on them. As a result of the firing, Sattar died on the spot while Fakhar got critically injured and he was shifted to the Rural Health Centre (RHC) Mandi Ahmadabad.

Police registered a case.

In the second incident, Muhammad Mazhar, a resident Muhammad Yar Wali, went missing.

When his family launched a search, they came to know that Mazhar was last seen with Ashfaq, Shakoor Ahmad, Ishaq and Balia who were mentioned as suspects in the first information report (FIR).

Later, Mazhar’s body was found near the Qabristan Nagar.

His family alleged that he had some old dispute with the suspects who shot him dead.

Mandi Ahmadabad police registered a case.

VISIT: Punjab Youth Affairs and Sports Secretary Ehsan Bhutta visited the gymnasium and e-library building at the District Complex to check the facilities available for the indoor games and condition of the building and facilities.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Liaqat Baig and District Supports Officer (DSO) Ashfaq Ahmad briefed the secretary on the sports event and facilities for the sports under one roof.

The secretary pointed out that the gymnasium building needed repair and renovation and directed the authority concerned to get the gymnasium ceiling repaired. The condition of the fitness centre machines was also checked.

The secretary said the government would provide the local athletes with coaching facilities. He was briefed about the budget and requirements.

On his visit to the e-library, Mr Bhutta talked to the students and other readers present at the e-library and inquired about the facilities.

The District Supports Officer told him that there were no funds for the e-library even for lights replacement and repair of the damaged doors. The internet was also not working properly.

The secretary promised to resolve the issues faced by the users of the e-library. On the way back to Lahore, the secretary visited the Jafar Supports Stadium at Renala Khurd.
