LARKANA: A special train for Sikh yatris that began its journey in Karachi for Nankana Sahib made a stopover at Larkana railway station to take in 700 devotees who would participate in the 553rd birthday of Baba Guru Nanak to be celebrated on Nov 6.

Dr Dhrampal, district president of Hindu Panchayat, said that the train made brief stopovers at Hyderabad and other railway stations along the way before arriving at Larkana where jubilant Hindu and Sikh yatris hailing from Larkana and Qambar-Shahdadkot boarded the train along with their families.

The 15-bogie train, which was decorated with banners, later moved to Rohri railway station where another group of yatris waited for it to join the sacred journey.

Talking to reporters, the pilgrims said that they were happy to have the opportunity to attend the birthday celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak in Nankana Sahib where Baba’s followers from Pakistan, India, America, England, Canada and other countries would converge to join the festivities, they said.
