MUZAFFARGARH: The district administration on Monday restored the office of lambardar and issued first card to Mauza Lang Malana lambardar Akhlaq Ahmad for identification of the official posted in the district.

Deputy Commissioner retired Capt Samiullah Farooq issued the card to Mr Akhlaq Ahmad while Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Murtaza Tanveer and Assistant Commissioner Mubeen Ahsan also accompanied him on this occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said about 750 posts of lambardar had been lying vacant in Muzaffargarh district for many years.

The DC said the lambardari system would be strengthened and facilities would be provided to the lambardars and their problems would be solved. “It’s time to fill the posts and process of selection is under way.”

Mr Farooq said all lambardars would be registered and they would be issued an identity card.

He said the secretaries of the union councils shall be mandated to ensure the registration of births and deaths on the identification of the lambardars.

The DC said work on framing a policy in the Board of Revenue for the allotment of land to lambardars is in the final stages.

He said the individuals whose ancestors had been lambardars can register themselves and others who fulfil the conditions, can also apply.
