PESHAWAR: The officials of tehsil municipal administration and devolved departments from Bajaur and Mohmand tribal districts were brought together here during two five-day workshops to train them in budgeting process for tehsil level.
A statement issued here said that the workshops were organised jointly the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Merged Areas Governance Project (MAGP) of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
A total of 46 officials from TMAs and nine devolved departments participated in the workshops. They were provided with an opportunity to learn about the new budget rules, processes and responsibilities under the KP Local Government (Amendment) Act 2019; Rules of Business; and the budget call circular.
The participants also gained hands-on experience in preparing development budgets and presenting them for approval in a series of simulation exercises designed to encourage inter-departmental coordination.
The workshops were held in close partnership with local government department to lay the groundwork for building strong and responsive local governance systems in the tribal districts.
