LAHORE: An exhibition-cum-competition of calligraphy titled Muhammad (PBUH) will open at the Alhamra Art Gallery, The Mall on Monday (today).

Artists from across the country have taken immense interest in participating in the exhibition. As many as 180 artists are participating in the competition and their 250 artworks will be displayed in four sections of the gallery.

Mina Haroon, Assistant Director Fine Arts, Lahore Arts Council, said there would be 10 cash prizes of Rs20,000 each. Ms Haroon said the jury comprises Irfan Ahmad, LAC Director Art and Culture Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi and Irfan Ahmad Khan.

Artists, students of various educational institutions and others are expected to attend the exhibition.

Earlier, Chief Minister Parvez Elahi was expected to inaugurate the exhibition but Alhamra officials said his adviser Umer Sarfraz Cheema will inaugurate it.
