LARKANA, Dec 18: A man and a woman were shot dead near Gaibidero in the mountainous area of Qambar-Shahdadkot district on the pretext of karo-kari. The deceased were identified as Makhan Tamani Chandio and Sahib Khatoon Qasimani Chandio.

Makhan Chandio had allegedly abducted Sahib Khatoon two days ago and took refuge in the Toopi mountains after marrying her. On late Saturday night, Tarique Qasimani Chandio and his relatives killed both of them.

Later, a man, Dodo Chandio, went to the Gaibidero police station and confessed to have killed the couple.

On Sunday, ASI Khair Mohammed Mirjat on behalf of state registered an FIR against Tarique, Dodo, Mithal and three other persons for killing the two.

SUICIDE: Under-trial prisoner Habibullah, 30, son of Allah Dino Chandio, committed suicide in the Larkana central prison on Sunday.

The deceased was a resident of the Drigh village near Qambar. He was put into prison for killing his wife two months ago.

He had hung himself with trousers against a window in the bathroom of his cell.

Jail Superintendent Abubakar Shaikh told Dawn that the man had killed his wife due to unsettled mental state. Mr Shaikh said the deceased had told other prisoners that he would kill himself one day.
