A statement issued here on Thursday said that on the directives of Inspector General Khalid Mahmood a pilot project using technological innovations and an enforcement regime with zero tolerance had been launched on selected motorways.
These initiatives aim to plug the technological gap in the existing infrastructure and desired infrastructure.
Speeding motorists will face heavy fines and patrol cars have been instructed to chase and apprehend violators, if needed. Violations in lane discipline will be rigorously monitored and fines imposed. Violators will be identified by using intelligently deployed spotters, speed and drone cameras.
The statement said that all NHMP field officers were also equipped with body cameras that transmitted live footage to the command centre.
