MANSEHRA: A large crowd gathered to witness traditional archery competition held in Torghar district on Sunday.
“The provincial directorate of sports organised the competitions to revive the game’s lost glory,” Hilal Shah, district sports officer, said while speaking at the prize distribution ceremony held in Mera Akazai area.
People from different parts of the district showed up.
The teams attempted to hit an eight-foot-long wooden arrow to the target set at a distance of 22 feet.
Bibmbal union council team clinched the top position defeating Mera Akazai team in the final.
“The traditional archery competitions used to be hold across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the past, but have now become limited to only three to four union councils of Torghar,” Mr Shah said.
He said in traditional archery competition the team first hitting the target 100 times was declared the winner.
