PESHAWAR: Sports and co-curricular activities will be promoted in all the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa public sector universities.

The decision was taken at a meeting held here on Friday with Prof Iftikhar Hussain, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, in the chair.

Dr Nasir Jamal Khattak, Vice-Chancellor University of Swabi and Dr Gul Majid Khan, Vice-Chancellor Islamia College University, Peshawar, were also present.

According to a statement, the meeting was aimed to look into the possibilities for strengthening and promoting sports and co-curricular activities in public sector universities.

The meeting discussed both short and long-term plans in light of the existing facilities.

The vice-chancellors vowed to provide high-standard sports facilities in the universities. They also decided to hold seminars, joint outreach and networking activities regularly to bring harmony and cohesion among the youth for national unity and peace.
