LARKANA: Sindh Minister for Education and Culture Syed Sardar Ali Shah has said that branches of the Arts Council of Pakistan would be established in Hyderabad, Sukkur and Qambar districts soon to promote art and culture.

Addressing an event at the Larkana Arts Council on Thursday after inaugurating its newly-constructed auditorium hall and admin block, he said keeping in view the marvelous performance of the arts councils of Karachi, Larkana and Khairpur, the provincial government had decided to establish such institutions in these three districts as well to promote art and culture in Sindh.

He pointed out that Larkana was the city that tremendously contributed to politics, literature, art and other spheres and played a leading and prominent role. Sindh is proud of it. Commending the wonderful performance of the Larkana Arts Council, he announced that its annual budget was increased from Rs3 million to Rs10 million for its further expansion. This would also enable it to hold a drama festival and establish a music academy, he said.

Education Secretary Ghulam Akbar Leghari, Larkana Arts Council chairman Ghanwar Leghari (Larkana Commissioner), acting president Ismail Jatoi and secretary Abdul Sattar Khuhawar also spoke.
