HYDERABAD, Dec 3: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jameel has stressed the need for learning Sindhi and other languages not only to strengthen love, affection and understanding among the people of Sindh but also to enhance communication skills which were essential for the development of the country.

He was speaking at the inaugurating ceremony of Sindhi language classes organized by the Sindh Language Authority at its auditorium on Thursday.

The nazim said that languages were source of education, information and understanding among different lingual groups within and outside the country.

He said that Sindhi was not only an ancient language of the world but also one of the richest languages due to its cultural heritage.

Mr Jameel said that people could enrich themselves by understanding history and literature of Sindh due to Sindh’s historical background of the Indus valley civilization.

He said that Sindhi was the only language which had not only absorbed others languages into itself but had also maintained its status in all forms.

He said that the singular feature of Sindhi language was that one can understand message of universal poet Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif in real sense.

He said that scholars of the world were conducting research on Sindhi language and literature. He said that those who were living on this soil had the obligation to protect and preserve the Sindhi language.

He said that the district government had decided to promote all educational and cultural activities which could bring the people closer to one another.

He said the district government would extend all possible help to the SLA in its educational and cultural activities and he himself would present shields and certificates to participants on their completion of this course of Sindhi language as an incentive to others.

He said that the district education department had been directed to introduce Sindhi subject in all schools of the district.

Sindhi Language Authority chairman Abdul Qadir Junejo said that the SLA had decided to extend such learning facilities upto Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah and other districts of the prov-ince. He appealed to the people to avail this opportunities in their personal and national interest.

The Dean of Arts Faculty University of Sindh, Jamshoro Qasim Bughio and others attended the inaugural ceremony of Sindhi language classes.
