LAHORE: A two-day ‘Trust for History, Art and Architecture of Pakistan (Thaap)’ seminar concluded on Sunday.
Thaap spread the beautiful colours of Punjabi culture with enriched folk tunes of traditional music and cultural poetry in its last session of the Punjab Culture seminar here at the Thaap Secretariat in Gulberg. The seminar entitled ‘Punjab Culture: Heritage, Conversation and Tourism’ depicted the true essence of the local culture. During the proceedings, Maqsood Ahmad Malik, director of archaeology, Prof Sajida Haider Vandal, and Najamus Saqib, WCLA director, briefed the participants about the significant work of heritage conversation. Theatre, music and poetry performances of artists received outstanding responses from the audiences.
Prof Pervaiz Vandal, the managing director of the Thaap, said they began the celebrations of the Punjab Culture Day a day earlier as the first month of the Punjabi calendar, Cheet, will start from Monday. He said that the message of the Thaap seminar was the promotion of peace, love and heritage conversation and would continue the mission with passion in future also.
Mehreen Mustafa, said Thaap has earned a unique place as one of the most respected organisations working in the field of culture, art, and architecture, offering its expertise in projects, research, and development. The Thaap group has five independent organisations: Thaap Heritage, Thaap conferences, Thaap Ma Boli Centre, Thaap Craft, and Thaap publications.
Prof Pervaiz Vandal explained the purpose of exploring, strengthening, and extending the rich cultural expressions in art and architecture as well as promoting the historical understanding of the region of Punjab and Pakistan.
