ISLAMABAD: Two persons were gunned down over an old enmity here on Tuesday, police said.
Spokesman for the police said the victims were identified as Mohammad Jahangir Iqbal, 22, and Mohammad Kamal, 20, residents of Muzammil Town.
Jahangir was on bail in a murder case registered at Sadiqabad police station in 2016, the spokesman said, adding that he was going to district and sessions courts Rawalpindi along with Kamal in a car to attend hearing in the case.
Two persons came on a motorcycle and intercepted them on Service Road of Islamabad Expressway near Sahi Chowk. Soon a car appeared there and four persons armed with Kalashnikovs disembarked and started indiscriminate firing on the car. One of the motorcycle riders also started firing, killing both on the spot. The attackers managed to escape in their vehicles.
According to the spokesman, the bodies were shifted to a hospital and later handed over to their families.
A case has been registered against six people, including the four attackers, in response to a complaint lodged by Mohammad Iqbal, father of Jahangir, he said. Those nominated in the FIR were complainants in a murder case registered against Jahangir in 2016.
