LAHORE: The post of Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) managing director is lying vacant, creating some administrative and financial issues.

Syed Zahid Aziz had been appointed as Wasa MD in May 2017 and he retired from service on Jan 20 after reaching superannuation.

The post has been vacant for the last two weeks, creating some administrative and financial issues. The ‘MD look-after charge’ was also not yet given to any other officer in or outside the department.

Talking to Dawn, an official on condition of anonymity says Mr Aziz wants to get an extension and he is likely to achieve his target.

The deputy managing directors, including Muhammad Ghufran, are also desirous of getting the look-after charge of the agency for the time being, he claims.

The official says the pace of different projects would slow down due to non-availability of the MD and it would also cause delay in payments and create other administrative issues.

He says only MD is authorised to approve projects.
