BADIN: A man shot dead his estranged wife before shooting himself in a microfinance bank’s branch near Chandia Nagar in Badin city on Saturday.

Police said that the woman, Sumbul Khaskheli, 24, was on duty when her husband, 25-year-old Qasim Khaskheli, entered the branch and shot her dead. He then shot himself, they added.

They said Qasim was also an employee of the same bank. He was rushed to the Badin District Headquarter Hospital, where doctors referred him to the Hyderabad Civil Hospital due to his critical condition.

Qasim’s brother Shafaqat told reporters that Sumbul had three children from her first husband and his brother had contracted a love marriage with her some two years ago. For some time, she had been pressing him to divorce her, he added.
