Original Winnie-the-Pooh Bridge up for auction

The iconic bridge that became famous as “Poohsticks Bridge”, thanks to A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh books, is now being auctioned.

Summers Place Auctions said the bridge, originally known as Posingford Bridge when it was built in Suffolk’s Ashdown Forest in 1907, became an iconic setting when Christopher Robin and Winnie-the-Pooh used it to invent the game “Poohsticks” in Milne’s 1928 book, The House at Pooh Corner.

Christopher Robin Milne had the bridge officially renamed Poohsticks Bridge in 1979. The bridge became a popular tourist destination and was removed in 1999 to make way for a sturdier recreation. The original bridge has now been “fully restored and reconstructed using local oak for any missing elements.”

The auction house said it is expected to sell for up to $81,300.

Revamp outdoors for Minecraft

During Minecraft Live, Mojang (creator) shared details on ‘The Wild Update’ — coming some time in 2022. It will add “new gameplay, more depth and lots of fun stuff to the game”.

This includes the addition of mud, the Mangrove Swamp biome, frogs, tadpoles and long-requested boats with chests. The Mangrove Swamp biome will include mangrove trees with a new type of wood for players to build with. Swamps will be “completely surrounded” by mangrove trees and their roots, with some trees big enough for players to sail their boats under.

Players can create renewable clay, mud bricks from mud, adding a new option for players looking to mix up their building materials. There is a lot more, but fans have to wait to see for themselves.

Picasso artworks auctioned for combined $109M

Eleven Pablo Picasso artworks have been sold for a combined $109 million in a Las Vegas auction, coinciding with the artist’s 140th birthday. The event featured Picasso artworks from 1917 to 1969.

The nine paintings and two ceramic pieces had been displayed inside the Picasso restaurant at the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art for more than two decades until the owner, MGM Resorts, decided earlier this year to sell them.

Picasso lived from 1881 until 1973 and spent much of his adult life in France. Over the course of more than 70 years as a working artist, Picasso is said to have created more than 13,000 paintings.
