RAWALPINDI: Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ali expressed satisfaction over the arrangements being made for Chehlum procession of Hazrat Imam Hussain (A.S) and said that the manner in which peace and order prevailed in the city during Muharram should be replicated during Chehlum.

He directed that the list of all the departments for security clearance should be sent to the deputy commissioner office within next two days.

For the monitoring of Chehlum Route, a control room will be set up in the TMA office by September 25 where the focal person of each department will be on duty.

With all these measures,he said that religious scholars should play a special role to create an atmosphere of brotherhood and tolerance in the society.

He expressed these views while addressing the participants of a meeting held with the departments to review the arrangements. The deputy commissioner further said that foolproof arrangements should be made for the security of Chehlum procession.

He directed the officials of the Municipal Corporation and the Municipal Committees to make the streetlights functional for the routes of the meetings and processions of Chehlum and to install CCTV cameras in time.

He also directed the members of Wasa and RWMC to ensure cleanliness and water supply on the procession routes.

He said that special security of Chehlum procession is being arranged by the district administration and police.

“Routes and times should be observed for Chehlum gatherings and processions. The use of loudspeakers should be banned and those who make hate speech should not be invited under any circumstances so that no untoward incident occurs,” he said.
