Pokémon launches limited animated series

The Pokémon Company International has detailed the launch of a new limited animated series to celebrate 25 years of the global entertainment franchise called Pokémon Evolutions.

The new series will take fans on a journey through all the known regions of the Pokémon world explored in the core video game franchise since it launched 25 years ago.

The series will begin in the Galar region, most recently explored in the latest video games Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, and culminate in the Kanto region, originally explored by players in the first games from the franchise, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green in 1996.

Each episode will focus on a story from a different region in reverse chronological order from which they were first explored in the games: Galar, Alola, Kalos, Unova, Sinnoh, Hoenn, Johto and Kanto. Familiar tales from Pokémon lore will be told from a fresh perspective in every episode.

New music from Elton John and Dua Lipa

John, 74, and Lipa, 26, released a new version of their song Cold Heart.

Cold Heart (The Blessed Madonna Remix) is a mash-up club track remixed by DJ and producer Marea Stamper, aka Blessed Madonna.

John shared a colourful visualiser video for the song that shows animated eyes and fantastical creatures.

The Pnau remix version will appear on John’s forthcoming album, The Lockdown Sessions. The new album features collaborations with Lipa, Lil Nas X, Miley Cyrus and other artists. The Lockdown Sessions releases on October 22.

A black Superman

A new Superman movie was confirmed to be in the works with a black actor in the role of Superman, as well as a black director at the helm, and Justice League director Zack Snyder is already a fan.

“I’m a fan,” said Snyder on the prospect of a black Superman. “I’m interested to see what happens — it’s a bold and cool and probably long overdue move.”

Comic book writer Ta-Nehisi Coates — who has written Marvel’s Black Panther as well as Captain America comics — is reportedly writing the script, while acclaimed director JJ Abrams is on board to produce. It will be the first time a black Superman has appeared on the big screen. No casting announcements have been made regarding casting of the role.
