TAXILA: One person died while seven others were injured in rain-related incidents in various parts of Attock on Wednesday.

The roof of a house located on Karam Khan Road collapsed as a result of which, 13-year-old Shahbaz Qadir was trapped in the debris. Later local volunteers retrieved his body and shifted it to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

In a separate incident, the roof a house collapsed in Jameel Town on Marri Road, injuring a woman and her four children.

Rescue sources said the house of Rehmat Shah collapsed due to heavy rainfall. Shah’s wife, 16-year-old son Amir Shah and daughters Saffa, 9, Marwa, 7, and four-year-old Ammara were injured. Upon getting information, rescue officials and locals dug them out of the debris and shifted them to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.

Furthermore, the wall of a house collapsed in Dhoke Noora in Sheenbagh area, inflicting injuries to a man and his son. The injured were identified as 35-year-old Sarfraz and his 7-year-old son Saad. They were both shifted to DHQ Hospital.

Moreover, unknown suspects shot and injured former Union Council vice chairman Zubair Iqbal outside his house in Hassanbdal. Police sources said Mr Iqbal came out from his house for some work when two masked men shot him and escaped. He was taken to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital where his condition is stated to be out of danger.
