SWAT: Joint educational adviser to the federal education and professional training ministry Rafique Tahir on Saturday said the introduction of the single national curriculum in public and private primary schools and seminaries in the country was a landmark achievement by the PTI government.

“It’s not an easy task to introduce uniform curriculum in the country but sincere efforts of the team formed by the government made that happen,” he told the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (Stem) experts and developers during a meeting here.

SPS College director and SKOOL21 CEO Syed Munawar Shah, educational experts and teachers also attended the meeting.

Mr Tahir said for the first time, the PTI government had successfully introduced uniform curriculum in the country.

“The single national curriculum has ended the 70 years long injustice meted out to our educational system. The credit of the uniform curriculum’s development goes to Prime Minister Imran Khan, who wanted to eliminate the class-based eductional system,” he said.

The adviser said PM Imran regularly met the SNC team every fortnight to examine progress on the curriculum’s implementation.

He said the SNC-based textbooks would be prepared in three phases, while the uniform primary school curriculum had already been introduced.

“The uniform school curriculum for middle school is also ready and will be implemented next year with the consensus of stakeholders,” he said.

Mr Tahir said the uniform curriculum for grade 9-12 would be prepared in the third and final phase.

He praised the STEM School in Swat for furthering the cause of formal education in the region.

The adviser visited the Research and Development Centre of SKOOL21 and SPS College and met teachers and students.

He gave away shields to bright students and teachers of Swat.

SPS director and SKOOL21 CEO Syed Munawar Shah presented a souvenir to him.
