ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Maritime Affairs on Thursday submitted the Inter-Ministerial Committee’s report on the establishment of new liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals to the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCoE).

The ministry informed the cabinet committee that a large number of issues have been addressed after extensive consultations which required inter-departmental and inter-ministerial consensus.

Chaired by Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar, the cabinet committee also received a report from the sub-committee of CCoE on ‘Pipelines Capacity Allocation for New Terminals’.

Acting on the recommendations of the sub-committee — led by Deputy Chairman Planning Commission — the CCoE directed the Ministry of Petroleum to submit a formal summary to cabinet committee containing the final proposals for approval of the cabinet.

Ministers for Industries and Production, Commerce, Maritime Affairs, Railways, and Science and Technology attended the meeting. Representatives of regulatory authorities and officials of provincial governments also participated in the meeting.
