CHITRAL: A man in his 30s, a teenage girl and a boy ended their lives by jumping into the Chitral River in different localities during the last two days, the police said on Saturday.

Police officials told Dawn that Shuja Mohammad, 37, parked his vehicle on the Osiak suspension bridge and jumped into the river in Drosh town of Lower Chitral. The body could not be fished out.

In Sonoghur village of Upper Chitral, Amir Hussain, 16, jumped into the river reportedly over domestic problems. His body was later on retrieved. The boy’s mother had also committed suicide when he was only one-year-old.

Alia Bibi, 17, ended her life by jumping into the river in Kosht village of Upper Chitral.

Her body is yet to be fished out.

The police have launched inquiry to know the causes behind the suicide incidents.
