LAKKI MARWAT: The district administration has formed a two-member committee to probe the allegations that officials received fee for X-Rays and other services from patients in the radiology department of the District Headquarters Hospital, Tajazai.

An official source said on Monday that deputy commissioner Abdul Haseeb had taken notice of complaints that officials were receiving Rs300 fee from patients for conducting X-Rays in the major health facility of Lakki Marwat.

The source said the inquiry committee comprising additional assistant commissioner Ishaq Ali Khan and the city hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Ishtiaq had been directed to submit findings within seven days.

In a separate development, the Naurang tehsil administration on Monday sealed a cosmetics bazaar and arrested 15 shopkeepers over violation of lockdown.

Additional assistant commissioner Aminullah Khan along with a police contingent visited different bazaars to check enforcement of lockdown.

He found that many traders had opened their shops in the cosmetics bazaar defying lockdown. The bazaar was packed with the buyers, especially women.

The additional assistant commissioner also sealed 12 shops in other bazaars over violation of standard operating procedures against Covid-19.

Also on Monday, the Bannu administration launched a crackdown on violators of lockdown and sealed business outlets in parts of the district.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zubair Niazi and DPO Imran Shahid jointly led the action, said an official.

He said the assistant commissioners closed 202 shops and 30 markets and arrested 293 individuals for not adhering to the relevant business protocols against the pandemic.

In a separate development, the Counter-Terrorism Department arrested a suspected terrorist during an intelligence-based operation in Bannu district on Monday.

An official said the operation was launched on information about the presence of outlaw, Hazrat Ali in Akhundan Khujari area.

He said the CTD commandos reached the locality and surrounded the hideout of terrorist.

Hazrat Ali sensed the presence of police and tried to flee but the cops overpowered him, said the official, adding the terrorist along with other accomplices had carried out a suicide attack on Mandan police station in 2017.

He said the government had fixed Rs2 million head money on Hazrat Ali.

RATION DISTRIBUTED: The Frontier Corps Headquarters South distributed special Ramazan food package among 300 deserving families, including persons with disabilities and widows, in Jandola and Khesrai areas of Tank district on Monday.

An official said the food package was launched on the directives of FC South IG Maj-Gen Omer Bashir.
