TOBA TEK SINGH: Two shops were gutted on Monday on Gojra-Jhang road when an LPG cylinder exploded at a tea stall.

As per Rescue 1122 officials, the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder exploded in a shop near Chak 304-JB, where a tea stall was being run. As per initial reports, the explosion was caused because of gas leakage from a cylinder.

The fire caused by the explosion rapidly engulfed AN adjacent tyre repair workshop, reducing all the material lying there to ashes.

Rescue 1122 fire-fighters controlled the fire after hectic efforts.

SEALED: A petrol and diesel filling station, allegedly set up illegally at Gojra, was sealed on Monday.

Civil defence Chief Officer Mureed Abbas told reporters that his office received a complaint that one Muhammad Adeel was running an unlicenced filling station on the basis of a fake agreement with the Pakistan State Oil.

He said when a raid was conducted on the filling station, its owner failed to produce registration documents and permission of the authorities concerned to run it.

At this, the filling station was sealed under sections 26 and 44 of the Petroleum Act 1971.

He said at the time of sealing, the filling station had a huge quantity of petrol and diesel in its underground tanks.

POWER METERS THEFT: The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) officials on Monday claimed to have nabbed four women while stealing away dozens of new electricity meters from the store of its Pirmahal sub-divisional office.

As per a complaint lodged by Fesco employees with Pirmahal police, the women entered the Pirmahal Fesco sub-divisional office under the garb of scrap collectors.

They alleged that the women somehow accessed the stock of new electricity meter and after opening the cartons stole dozens of meters and concealed them in the bags they were apparently carrying for scrap collection.
