PESHAWAR: Farhatullah Marwat was elected president and Mohammad Irfanullah Mehsud general secretary of Provincial Management Service Association (PMSA) here on Tuesday.
According to provisional results issued here, hundreds of officers cast their votes electronically to elect their new office-bearers.
The main contest was on the seats of president and general secretary. Farhatullah Marwat defeated Mushtaq Hussain by 56 votes and became president of the association.
Mohammad Irfanullah Mehsud won the slot of general secretary by defeating Fazal Hussain, who secured 197 votes.
Roshan Mehsud was elected vice president male, Sarah Tawab, vice president female, Noman Wazir joint secretary and Mohammad Sheeraz was elected finance secretary of the association.
Fahad Ikaram Qazi was elected coordinator by securing 314 votes, the highest number.
In a statement issued here, Mr Qazi said it was a victory of their whole fraternity. “Firstever elections of PCS/ PMS Officers KP have been held peacefully and with an outstanding 75 per cent turnout,” he said.
He said that they would work for administrative federalism as enshrined in the Constitution of Pakistan. “It will be pursued in courts and assemblies, with the provincial and the federal governments,” he said.
